Rules for Indoor Ice Times

  • Full equipment required.
  • We recommend using a mouth guard (even if you wear a cage) in order to help prevent head injury / concussions.
  • No drinking and playing. The arenas do not allow alcohol on site either.
    • Do not play drunk.
  • Face offs after saves and goals.
  • Face offs after icing and off-sides.
  • NO face offs in the last 5 minutes of the session.
    • After a goal, icing the puck or off-side the team (all players on the ice) must fully leave the offensive zone before game play restarts.
  • Puck dropped by the defending team.
  • Puck dropped by the team that scored after a goal.
  •
  • We play with no-touch icing: play is automatically stopped when a player shoots the puck from behind the center red line and goes past the opposing team’s goal line.
  • NO chasing. NO hybrid.
  • Any icing play will be considered icing even if the offensive team is closer to the puck for safety.
  • Icing creates a face-off.
    •
  • Scoring chance:
    • Penalty shot if clear goal scoring chance (breakaway, open-net or similar).
  • Major penalty or double-minor:
    • Penalty shot.
    • If worthy of a 5-minute major you should not play the rest of the game – hard penalties in a friendly league.
  • Non-scoring plays and minor penalty:
    • Create a change of possession.
    • Team committing infraction should retreat (all players) to their own zone before advancing.

Warm-up Drills

Games & Tournaments

1. Join the inter-squad indoor ice sessions and Folkets Park sessions to meet people and team managers.

2. Get your name on the player list. If you are a Premium Member or have played a game in the past, your name should be on the list already. If not, talk to one of the board members or team managers.

3. Each game people will be invited based on their ranking in the team list, if their skill level matches the need and position played.

Priority may also be given to returning players. Eg. if you played in Gentofe Cup 2023 you will likely be given the first opportunity to join again in 2024.
There are almost always spots available to some new players each game.

4. Become a “Premium” member. We always want to give more benefits, including game time, to premium members – being a premium member improves your ranking on the player list.

Alternatively, take charge and build your own team under the Tortugas umbrella. We have resources and support for you.

Learn more on the Adult Rec Hockey page.

Of course. More hockey is better for everyone.

You can play games and enter tournaments under the Tortugas name, with approval from the board – realistically we aren’t going to say no unless you somehow make the club look bad.

We will only post results of these events if you are keeping score and stats, this is also pretty easy, we have a template for you and you just give that back to us after and we can update everything.

We have extra jerseys that can be borrowed for people who play on your team that need them.

You can use our player list if you want or just make your own team however you wish.

We can also support by using the clubs bank account to collect player fees from individuals and pay registration fees etc.

It’s a lot easier than it sounds, you just need to take the lead.

We keep a historical record of all scores and stats.

When playing games / tournaments, someone should keep track of all scores and all stats for all games and every player on the team.

Unless we have stats for everyone who played in the game we will not upload the stats.

This is pretty easy, we have a template you can use. It can be tricky while the game is ongoing but such is life being a player and a stats keeper – try doing it while being a goalie!

We do our best to play various levels of games and tournaments from beginner to advanced.

We run a “A”, “B” and “C” team.

  • 2024/25 is the first youth season – we hope to host 2-4 ice times this year.
  • The times will be a bit random – at this time we have no recurring time with Malmö Stad or Kockums.

During the initial 2024/25 season we will split the ice based on age and skill of the people who will attend the ice time.

We will focus on basic skills. Skating, conditioning, stick handling.

The group can be mixed from 4 to 16 years of age, but we will split the age groups to make it safe for everyone. In coming years, if this grows, we will have a more typical youth structure by birth year.
